North Korea has been a bit of a cartoon for the past 20 years or so, when Kim Jung Il was running things the whole situation was even funnier. Jung was this brutal dictator we’re supposed to be afraid of but at the same time he looked like a butch lesbian with a ridiculous haircut. It was very difficult to take him seriously.

Now they’re at it again testing their defense and military technology for the world to see. This time they tried sending up a rocket to get a satellite into orbit but the mission failed very comically. The whole operation lasted only nine minutes total and the rocket was only in the air about 100 seconds before it exploded as it came back to earth.

What went wrong was the second stage didn’t ignite so the rocket didn’t have enough momentum to reach orbit outside of the earth’s atmosphere. South Korean air force fighter jets were ready in the air to shoot it down, but didn’t have to. They are now searching through the debris to find clues into the North Korean operation and where they are technologically speaking. Judging by the result of this rocket test it appears the North Koreans have some work to do before they have the technology to reach the United States with rockets.

The other fear the US may have in North Korea is their nuclear program, which is what many are looking into. But even if their nuclear program were progressing they still wouldn’t be able to put together a rocket that could reach the US.

By the way, if this is the technology of North Korea, then why are we so worried about Iran? Iran doesn’t even have an air force, nor the ability to create any kind of rocket close to the capabilities of the Western world.

Either way, it’s always funny and acceptable to laugh at the failures of the North Koreans.
